“Christ Has Regarded My Helpless Estate” Rom. 5.1-8
As the classic hymn It is Well With My Soul affirms, those who are justified by faith now have peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. While we were still sinners, Christ died for the ungodly, regarding our helpless estate, and reconciling us to God, who loves us in spite of what we’ve done. (5.1-8)
Our Focus Today
God showed his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (5.8)
Invocation
While one might die for a righteous person, Christ revealed to us your love, dear Father, by dying for us, the unrighteous. Your love is deep, amazing, and inspires us to surrender. Instruct us further in that love today. Amen.

Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father,
And to the Son and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning,
Is now, and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen, amen.

Friday: 2 Kings 19; Isa. 37; 2 Chron. 32.9-23

God demonstrated his love for us sinners by allowing Christ to die for us.
Reflection
The power of salvation is the unlikely nature of God’s demonstration of his love for sinners. We don’t deserve it; we’ll never be able to earn it. Even while we were still sinners, Christ died even for us!
Benediction
O God, one of the most difficult things to do is to believe that you love us even though we know that we are sinful. We still remember the betrayals, the omissions, the bad deeds, the foolish acts—our whole lives prove to us that we don’t merit your favor. But you loved us anyway, and sent your Son to die for us. We are grateful for this conquering love; help us prove it today. Amen.
Doxology
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him all creatures here below;
Praise Him above ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Scripture Memory
Joel 2:28–29 (ESV)
28 “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. 29 Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.
Book Reading and Reflection
Deuteronomy 6:5 says, “Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength” (NKJV). Jesus repeated this command three times in the New Testament (Matt. 22:37, Mark 12:30, Luke 10:27). Why? Because it’s what we were made for—to love God. And if we are in love with Him, we will naturally want to worship Him (shachah). He’s done so much for you and me that it only seems right to fall down before Him (cagad), to throw up our hands in surrender (yadah), to sing His praises (zamar)—to worship Him.
