“Emmanuel Shall Come,” Jeremiah 33.14-22
The days are coming when the LORD will fulfill his promise to his people and will raise up a Righteous Branch of David’s line to bring his Kingdom to pass.
Our Focus Today
Never will David lack a person to sit on the throne of God’s kingdom.
Invocation
Father, you promised your servant David that he would never lack a man to sit on the throne of house of Israel. Through the centuries to come, there would always be Emmanuel to rule over the Kingdom. Jesus is that man; come, Lord Jesus, and reign over your kingdom! Amen.

Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father,
And to the Son and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning,
Is now, and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen, amen.

Tuesday: 2 Kings 23.1-28; 2 Chron. 34.29-35.19; Nah. 1-3

David will always have descendant upon his throne to rule over the kingdom of God.
Reflection
The Lord determined that David’s royal line would be the lineage from where the Messiah-King, Emmanuel, would originate. Jesus of Nazareth is a descendant of David’s line, and is the true Messiah promised from of old.
Benediction
Lord Jesus Christ, we believe in our hearts that you are the descendant from David’s lineage who has been anointed by God to rule forever over the Kingdom of God. You are the head of the Church, and Lord of the world. Rule in my heart, and may I show others your glory today! Amen.
Doxology
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him all creatures here below;
Praise Him above ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Scripture Memory
Joel 2:28–29 (ESV)
28 “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. 29 Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.
Book Reading and Reflection
Next, God initiated change in the availability of Scripture. The Pentateuch was translated into Greek (the Septuagint) around 285 BC. By this time, Jerusalem was a very cosmopolitan, Greek-speaking society. This new, Greek translation made God’s law more accessible to the people. It was also a precursor of the living word to come. (Remember, Jesus is the incarnate Word, and He was, and is, accessible to all.) God was setting the stage for the Messiah. Remember, the last Israel heard from God, Malachi was crying, “The Messiah is coming.”
