In view of God’s mercies, yield your body as a living sacrifice to God, renewing your mind to discern God’s good, acceptable, and perfect will, Rom. 12.1-2
The risen and living Jesus of Nazareth is the Lord of the harvest. He asks his people to represent his kingdom and declare his Gospel among those who have not yet heard of his salvation. To be used fully by him, each one must yield themselves to him without qualification or condition, to be a living sacrifice as his ambassador in the world.
Our Focus Today
God makes his appeal to us on the basis of his mercies demonstrated in the life and work of his Son, Jesus Christ, Rom. 12.1.
Invocation
O Father Almighty, we stand in awe of the mighty acts of redemption and salvation you have accomplished for us in your Son. He came, he suffered and died, and rose again for our justification and transformation. Now, you call us to surrender to you in the light of these mercies. Open our eyes to see what you have done for us, and to surrender to you in the light of these mercies you’ve given. Amen.

Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father,
And to the Son and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning,
Is now, and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen, amen.

Monday: Luke 9.7-17; Mark 6.14-56; Matt. 14; John 6.1-21

The nature of Christian surrender to God is done in view of God’s mercy, which makes both our surrender and obedience acceptable to him, Rom. 12.1.
Reflection
Our surrender to God is anchored on the great acts of redemption God performed for us through his Son. In the light of such wondrous works of love and kindness, it is only right for us to surrender to him our lives that he might use us for his glory and kingdom’s advance.
Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
*In the Apostles and Nicene Creeds, the term catholic refers to the Church’s universality, through all ages and times, of all languages and peoples. It refers to no particular tradition or denominational expression (e.g., as in Roman Catholic).
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen.
Doxology
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him all creatures here below;
Praise Him above ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Benediction
O Almighty and All-Powerful Father, no words can fully describe the mighty acts of salvation and redemption you have achieved for us in your Son. Grant us the wisdom and humility to respond to such love with our surrendered lives and futures. We are grateful for what you have accomplished in us; let us show it now in our obedience to you. Amen.

Scripture Memory
Psalm 145:1-7 (ESV)
A SONG OF PRAISE. OF DAVID. 1 I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. 5 On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. 6 They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness.
7 They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.
Book Reading and Reflection
“Worship old and new recognizes theology as a discipline that reflects on its experience, particularly the experience of worship. From a theological point of view worship constitutes the gospel in motion. Worship celebrates God’s great acts of salvation. During worship God communicates to the worshipers his salvation and healing, to which the people respond with faith, praise, prayer, thanksgiving, and a life of service in the world.”
~ Robert E. Webber, Worship Old and New. Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 1985, page 141.
